Although this may not be an easy idea to explain to your child, talking about it, could make a difference in their relations with others.

Attitude can affect how a person talks to another, which path you take when presented with a choice, or whether or not you take a risk or take the easy way out, etc…

By practicing different scenarios with your child he or she can choose the positive way vs. the negative way and see how it may affect the outcome.

The other day my son came home from school and told me he didn’t have any friends.

I asked him why he thought that was and he responded with, “Nobody will play with me.”

After talking to him for a few minutes, it was obvious he didn’t feel comfortable with going up to someone and asking them to play.

I took this opportunity to show my son some of the responses he may get if he were to put a smile on his face and approach someone on his own. After a few examples with him, he was laughing and he was actually looking forward to trying it the next day at school.

It’s amazing the confidence that can come from the support of the parents. I believe role play with your child is a good way to assist them in getting through some of the tough times they encounter during their day. Give it a try and watch your child grow more confident every day.

Everyone defines success differently and there are many avenues to get to where you are headed.

The key is to clearly define success - in your mind - and then to design the road map.

There is no stopping you in your quest to become successful!

Figure out what you want!

Create the path to get there!

Follow the path!

Persistence is one of the fundamental principles in achieving your desired goals.

We’ve all heard the words, “Don’t Give up!

Jimmy Valvano gave one of the greatest speeches I’ve ever heard called “Don’t Ever Give Up!"  I recommend watching it if you haven’t already seen it.

In case you didn’t know, here are some famous failures…

Oprah Winfrey was once fired from her television reporting job.

Colonel Sanders was personally rejected 1,008 times when trying to sell his fried chicken recipe.

Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team.

I hope my point is obvious enough for you to understand that failure is a natural event that will happen to you.  The only way you will be successful is if you understand this and utilize the failure as a stepping stone rather than defeat.

Decide what you want, take action towards it and never give up!
